Ran into an interesting article on the web today. I was unaware that the recently indicted Lewis “Scooter” Libby was also a published writer of “erotica”.
I think she makes an excellent point. Check out Shakespeare’s Sister.
I’m sick of the lies, the war, the overt corruption, the laughable sensationalistic media, the hypocrisy and on and on…

It’s a blog, not a scientific treatise or legal pleading. I find it to be well-written, witty, entertaining and thought-provoking. Some of her points are well-made, some are sarcastic, and yes, some are ad hominem. But personally, I couldn’t give a shit whether or not she follows the ‘rules of logic.’ People tend to be passionate and emotional creatures. Sometimes discussions get messy. Sometimes they get personal. You find it on all sides; conservative, liberal, moderates, etc. It’s in the media, in politics, in relationships, and even among friends. It is pervasive.
Would it be a better world if no one did it? Sure. Should we avoid all discourse that doesn’t present and explore ideas within a strict set of rules and guidelines? Are all of her ideas and thoughts without merit simply because she also attacks character and name calls?
Perhaps your position regarding ‘ad hominen’ arguments would be more useful if you called in to express it on shows such as the O’Reilly Factor or Sean Hannity, and stopped beating the same dead horse among friends.
