Ah… a proud tradition continues in the state of my birth:
People Brew Own Gas To Beat Pump Prices
WASHINGTON — Some people have become so desperate to find cheaper fuel for their cars they’ve begun making ethanol at home.
There are dozens of Web sites explaining how to make ethanol from homemade stills.
Bill Sasher, owner of a Tennessee company that sells ethanol stills and kits, said that once you’re set up it costs about 75 cents a gallon to brew your own fuel.
Sasher said that with gas prices nationally closing in on $3 a gallon, his business is booming.
Most cars can run on a mixture of ethanol and gasoline, and the new flex fuel cars can run on 85 percent ethanol or regular gasoline.
(oh..and I plead the 5th on the Alan Jackson reference.)

every time gas prices rise i am sickened that it takes getting hit in the POCKET BOOK for people to make changes . . instead of realizing/evaluating on their own that there could be a better way - which by the way could make a postive impact . . they have to be pushed into it by the all mighty dollar . .
Even though I don’t like paying big money at the gas pump . . if that’s what it takes to get people to reconsider the way they are doing things (running errands, purchasing vehicles, using public transportation) and forces them to make changes then so be it
Our earth is in peril . .we have to make changes

Hear, hear!
(but you already know how i feel about it.)
And for some in the government to suggest ‘offering $100 rebate check’ is laughable. I guess when you are so used to getting paid off to turn your head the other way… it only makes sense that you would offer to pay off others. What a huge ‘f…ing’ mess, all around.

Glitterbvg had it right. "We have met the enemy and he is us." There’s China, India, Iraq, Iran, and all those SUV’s. It’s so complicated there are only two words to explain the whole situation…supply and demand.

I vote for corn whiskey.

That must be why Glitterbvg loves me–because of all my DART usage and one-day errand-running!
