Now you have to take my word on this, because truly I don’t mean it in any lecherous kind of lusty way (settle down…no…really), but I have to make an honest admission: I LOVE summer because of all the low-cut blouses in the office.
Now it’s not like I’m all hot and bothered about it, and some of the ‘targets’ are surprising even to me, because I’ve never harbored a single sexual thought about most of them…however, I must admit the recent spate of considerably attractive décolletage that have entered my sphere of vision has been more than welcome and I’d even go so far as to say, have enhanced my everyday work experience in a positive way. I appreciate beauty in all its many forms, and a well-framed, curvaceous, tanned neckline with the hint of cleavage (or more) is a wondrous site regardless of your persuasion. If there is a God with specific intention…that God deserves high marks for the creation of this part of the female anatomy and the beauty that is exhibited in the numerous and diverse specimens that have been made available for my appreciation.
All I’m saying is “Thanks, I’m diggin it. No. Really, Thanks. Keep up the good work.”
Now I have to admit that I have personally fallen victim to the ubiquitous ‘drunk dial’ (from both sides of the keypad) and I have many friends who would agree to the same. But do we really need technology to prevent these ‘precious moments’?
At a recent gathering I happened upon a suburban (Plano) housewife with a sing-song Ned Flanders voice and a Ned Flanders outlook to match. She began to make polite conversation with me, asking the usual slate of questions. When we got to my job I told her a bit about the Community Outreach programs that I coordinate for my company. I mentioned that we do a great deal of work with organizations that target Diabetes and Infant Mortality in the state of Texas. She was surprised to learn that in our ‘Great State of Texas’ Infant Mortality is on the rise and that the United States in general has Infant Survival Rates Lower Than Most Developed Nations’.
Upon hearing this news, she wondered aloud to me, in a hushed voice, “the Immigrants”? Again she was surprised to learn that the issue was of more concern among all populations. Actually, in Texas it is lower in the Hispanic group.
Now I admit, I spend far too much time digging into the news and on these particular topics I see statistics and reports during the course of my job that perhaps the average American doesn’t have ‘easy access’ to. However, I find it disturbing that everyone at the party knew a little something about Britney Spears’ kids, Brangelina’s pregnancy/ adoptions and had one opinion or another about Taylor Hicks.
“You’re beginning to believe the illusions we’re spinning here, you’re beginning to believe that the tube is reality and your own lives are unreal. You do. Why, whatever the tube tells you: you dress like the tube, you eat like the tube, you raise your children like the tube, you even think like the tube. This is mass madness, you maniacs. In God’s name, you people are the real thing, WE are the illusion.”

[Both kids stop to listen. They look at one another, amazed. They nod and smile approvingly, while skating off, totally digging on their new Mark Vidler beat. FIN ]
MEME: You get to choose three living people to meet (not people you already know). One will be your companion for a single dinner, one will serve as a mentor, and one will become a close friend. Who do you choose?
I understand that people who use TiVo ® really enjoy the ‘rewind live TV’ feature and after a certain period of time really come to rely on it and expect it of all of their viewing experiences. That makes perfect sense. For me, never having had it, I don’t really miss it. On the other hand, I watch so many movies with the subtitles on that when I go to the movies at the theater sometimes I really miss the subtitles. It is just one of those things.
But lately, as I’ve been watching more TV than I have in the past, the addiction I really miss is the ‘hyperlink’. I hear things and I want to say “show me” and click on it.
Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, at lunch today I had the opportunity to “participate” in a DallaSPDTraffic for Revenue Assistance Program. After my ‘facilitator’ so eloquently explained the program details to me (65 in a 45 – I was coming off 75N onto the NW HWY ramp, and didn’t want to be run over by everyone else), I think I’ll be making a ‘donation’.
I worship God as Truth only. I have not yet found Him, but I am seeking after Him
My effort should never be to undermine another’s faith but to make him a better follower of his own faith.
We must respect other religions, even as we respect our own. Mere tolerance thereof is not enough.
The sayings of Muhammed are a treasure of wisdom not only for Muslims but for all of mankind.
The most heinous and the most cruel crimes of which history has record have been committed under the cover of religion or equally noble motives.
Corruption ought not to be an inevitable product of democracy.
I do not believe in the doctrine of the greatest good of the greatest number. The only real, dignified, human doctrine is the greatest good of all.
The spirit of democracy cannot be imposed from without. It has to come from within.
Just as a man would not cherish living in a body other than his own, so do nations not like to live under other nations, however noble and great the latter may be.
The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.
To believe in something, and not live it, is dishonest.
What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty or democracy?
Why change the world when we can change ourselves?
Seven Blunders of the World:
Wealth without work
Pleasure without conscience
Knowledge without character
Commerce without morality
Science without humanity
Worship without sacrifice
Politics without principle
Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it.
Honest disagreement is often a good sign of progress.
A ‘No’ uttered from the deepest conviction is better than a ‘Yes’ merely uttered to please, or worse, to avoid trouble.
For this cause I too am prepared to die, but for no cause, my friend, will I be prepared to kill.
I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent.
I can combine the greatest love with the greatest opposition to wrong.
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.
If love or non-violence be not the law of our being, the whole of my argument falls to pieces.
Even If I am a minority of one, truth is still the truth.
