March 2007

Yes, I have been an absent blogger lately. No excuse. Life is great. Work is full and busy. I’ve thought about the blog many times, just didn’t pull up the URL.

So, the biggest news in recent days - - Butterfly and I have found, contracted, negotiated, inspected and appraised a home and we expect to close sometime in April. We are thrilled!! Completely.

Housewarming invites will follow in the coming weeks/months.

[Scene: Two similar tea mugs sit on the kitchen counter. Butterfly likes her tea hot. Hauself prefers to let her tea cool down before she drinks it. Hauself is around the corner and out of sight of the mugs.]

Butterfly: UUUghhh. I just drank some of your tea. I was wondering why my tea was so cold.

Hauself: [laughs] Sorry. [She grabs her mug and prepares to take a sip]

Butterfly: I think I may have put some of it back in your cup.

Hauself: [Looks down into the honey-brown liquid] UUUghhhh. I’m not sure I’m as interested in my tea anymore.

Ok, so it is past time for an update, so this may be a bit rambling and scattered, but it will serve the general purpose.

We all arrived safely to Dallas and the trip was fairly uneventful. Somewhere in Arizona, we decided not to fight against the screaming stereotype of two very comfortably dressed, short-haired women with a long-haired gentleman cat driving in an old pick-up truck with a Uhaul trailer along I40, so we just cranked the Indigo Girls figuring we might as well round out the image. I guess we should have been driving TO Berkeley and not FROM. Oh well.

We made the trip in 29 hours driving time over basically 40 hours. But all that seems like months ago, when in reality it’s only two weeks. In the meantime, Butterfly is comfortably moved in. Ovid already owns the place and it’s all a good thing at Palais plus Sauvage (de Papillon).

Hopefully with things settling down a bit, I can update a bit more frequently. But for now I can just say I’m really looking forward to an evening with the tribe and the glorious return of the prodigal Sparkler for a night.
